To promote harmony, the Great Law of the Olympians sought to suppress the volatile nature of humanity by forbidding war on Arcadia. Unfortunately, the Olympians learned nothing is ever perfect. Once every hundred years the Son of Ares is born to disturb the delicate balance of their world. Although Ardella of New Athens was the chosen of Athena, blessed with the gift of empathy, she was young and naïve. She made the ultimate mistake – she allowed the Son of Ares to manipulate her and escape. Almost a decade later, the Daughter of Athena is still battling the chaos caused by that moment of weakness, when her brother is captured by the enemy. The story has much to recommend it with equal parts romance

God’s of Arcadia: Daughter of Athena is Andrea Stehle’s debut novel, the first in a fantasy series based on Greek mythology. The story has much to recommend it with equal parts romance, action, and expertly paced suspense, as it touches on themes we can all relate to. The central question of the novel asks whether Ardella will stay loyal to the gods of her youth, or risk everything for love and the new order desperately trying to establish itself on Arcadia. In some ways, it’s a classic coming of age story, and it’s not a far leap for many Americans who were raised in conservative faith traditions and now find themselves in a country where laws and attitudes are suddenly changing at rapid fire pace to see themselves in Ardella. It’s a great read.

A new exploration of fate and mans search for freewill

This was a very interesting read with different take on the Olympian Gods. The exploration of the heroine's place in the world and questioning her fate and faith in the Gods is compelling. It will be very interesting to see where the story goes as the world is discovered and the machinations of Athena and the Olympians is revealed.
