Awakening: The Prophecy Tales, by Acie Lynn

If prison could be beautiful and in it family could be found, Mayven was sure fate had granted her such a boon. This apartment had been her prison, a necessary one perhaps, but prison none-the-less, as long as she could recall. Love had been her keeper and destiny her sentence. Fate-the keeper of the keys-was unlocking the doors at last. However, Mayven found the cost was more horrifying than the thought of a life spent in servitude to a destiny she had never wanted and still didn't understand. Mayven has been sheltered, unaware of the suffering she thinks resides only within the walls of her tiny apartment. Varn knows suffering exists far greater than he alone can combat, but he is determined to try. Varn and Mayven are on a collision course with what each of them think they know and what destiny truly has in mind. Their only ally is the truth. Sometimes, however, the truth does not always set you free.

About the Author
Acie Lynn is a lifetime writer that began her career at the ripe old age of six when she re-wrote the ending of Heidi (granny didn't get treated fairly in her estimation). She entitled the piece 'The Bline Grinmather' (misspellings historically accurate) and that is how the much cherished document became family legend. She then learned to spell and subsequently spent her awkward teen years hiding in school libraries devouring books on everything (classical literature became a favorite along with westerns by Louis L'Amour). She has a modest collection of published short stories, poems, and several small articles. Journalism was her goal on the way out of high school, but life has curveballs, so she went into Business Administration for twenty years then followed that up with a degree in Medical Assisting. During those long years she raised two magnificent boys, continued to write several novels (none of which have seen the light of day due to her harsh critiquing skills) and had even more poems published. She has taken several writing courses most notably from a fellow author and mentor Holly Lisle (she highly recommends How to Think Sideways by Holly Lisle, it taught her a lot). She resides in Pueblo, Colorado with her phenomenal husband, their children and one very spoiled bark-o-lounger (a.k.a. the family dog, Jayben). Currently Acie Lynn is winding up the first novel deemed suitable for public viewing and is anticipating its debut in October of 2014.

Totally Captivating And Equally Unique!!!
By Cheri Clay
Facing an unknown future, Mayven is to be removed from her prison of a home which she shared with Payin. Secretive Payin has kept her hidden and protected since he was entrusted to care for her after her parents were killed. But with him now dead the secrets as to whom she really is and this destiny she must fulfill all seem lost. Now after the only father she has known has died she is being escorted by a payjic to her new prison the orphanage where she must spend the next two years of her life. There she must endure pain and torture from the head mistress and live as the deformed nobody that everyone believes she is, unlike those around her who possess magic. All the while she knows she has powers but all she can do for now is hold onto all Payin has taught her and survive.

Lynn writes a deep, rich, haunting tale of love, betrayal, magic, talking trees, religion and more. Flowing like a fairy tale the story is captivating as the plan to restore balance is revealed and all that Mayven must do. But there is more woven within the storyline than magic and crystals as deep within there are lessons to be learned from the ancient trees once Mayven awakens them as well as love and faithfulness to the creator Dsohoay whom is very similar to our own God and creator. There also is a raging battle between good and evil for power and control. The storyline is slow-paced and gains speed which is perfect as it moves from the orphanage to the world that Mayven/Lapahoniesh or the Language Master is destined to save.

Totally unique and so wonderfully written it’s hard to state a genre as it is a storyline all its own. Mixed with fantasy, adventure, romance, religion with a twist of what seems a feel of India culture the story is very much alive. Mayven’s world is so creatively as well as masterfully detailed from the ugliness of the orphanage to the feel of the ancient trees and the horrors seen through her eyes and the others that one is enveloped within to feel, see and touch as the characters do. The characters each are well gifted all their own and fully developed to become more than just a small part of Mayven’s world but to emerge with stories all their own. The connection between Mayven and Varn-her protector and an equal part of her destiny, is painfully sad as he must endure her pain for the two years she is in the orphanage knowing he cannot help her but knows the scars will run deep once she leaves. But also with the sadness is the ability to connect with someone on a deeper level than mere flesh and blood as each can feel as the other feels making it hard at times to hide emotions, pain and love.

I’m not sure who the illustrator is but the pictures of Mayven, Varn and Amalayna are so beautifully detailed one can truly envision the deepness within their souls that I found myself referring to the pictures time and time again throughout the story.

Totally captivating and equally unique - step within the pages of Mayven’s world as “one page of a person’s life cannot measure its entire worth” and hang on for a story not soon forgotten.

... tale that comes to life in a unique and wonderful world. In fact it was unlike anything else ...
By Christina Di Maria
Acie Lynn weaves a magical tale that comes to life in a unique and wonderful world. In fact it was unlike anything else I have ever read with a lot of well woven and interesting ideas and concepts.

I did find the beginning of the book was a little slow paced. It is necessary as the author takes this time to develop her beautiful world. The author brings this unique world to life through vivid descriptions. Before I knew it, I was hooked.

You can’t help but to fall in love with the characters as you follow them on their journey. You go through the gambit of emotions as you watch each character grow and develop.

The story is well woven full of unexpected twists and turns and was a page turner that I never wanted to put down. My only complaint would be that the book ended! I am impatient for the next one in the series!

I have already recommended this book to others to read, and will continue to do so. It was an enjoyable read - even if it was over too quickly!

must read!!!
By Victoria E.
This is a great book. I was hooked and had it read in a few days if i had more timeI wouldn't have put it down. The writer keeps you at the edge of your seat with her ability to leave you guessing what's going to happen next. The world she has created through her wonderful details is breathtaking. If you have read any of the matched books or hungrier games books this you will love. It was the fantasy world of nothing i have ever read. There are no books to compare it to its has a fantasy feel with a real life twist. There are full characters humor pain sadness love and all the emotions we all feel throughout our lives you fall in love with the characters as they struggle through there life's. Can't wait to see what happens in the second book. This is a must read!!!!
