Excellent, thought provoking book!

Excellent book! A series of short stories mostly centered around the theme of alternate universes and the effects they might have on our own reality. Very thought provoking. I found each of the stories and the characters engaging, their situations and personalities unique, while the book as a whole was not a fragmented series of stories but more a complete work made up of smaller units. Great stuff!

How far can your mind be bent in only 4 dimensions?

Not to put off the people who enjoy reading "Scientific American" for fun, but IMO the best time to read this book is after passing a Modern Physics course. That's especially true for the last story, the one that shares its title with the book -- it is littered with puns on the names of the scientists whose contributions form the theoretical framework supporting the hoops that Jorgensen has his characters jump through. Great fun for the hard-SF fan who'd like to see just how far the fundamental concepts of physics can be stretched in the interest of telling a good story. If you geeked on Hal Clement or the early Larry Niven tales, you'll love these stories and also the author's novel, "Speculation."

Brilliant!

Another great offering from the author of Speculation, Other Copenhagens had me hooked from start to finish. At the core of each story there are compelling characters and engaging plots, but they are wrapped in some truly thought provoking themes of which I couldn't get enough. Sign me up for whatever he writes next.
