This is an outstanding textbook on the neurophysiology of coding with mathematical and statistical models. Prefrontal cortex, auditory, premotor, motor, association cortex, basal ganglia, cerebellum, and inf. Olive are described in terms of response patterns and threshold mapping. The Psychophysics of neural timing and coding is explored in great detail. Time constants and coding predictions are part of the modeling. The first half second is the key to perceptual timing. The subsecond and several second physiological responses are nicely done. The psychophysics of music, rhythms and polyrhythmic patterns have both electrical and fMRI correlations. The book is well illustrated in full color with many charts, graphs, models, and drawings with EEGs, ERPs, and montages of evoked potentials.
I highly recommend this outstanding textbook to all interested audiences including neurophysiologists, neuroscientists, neurologists, and neurosurgeons in the research field involving timing mechanisms through psychophysics, probability theory, and mathematical modeling.
