As a kidney recipient, I relate alot. Brilliant read

I am an 18 year old who has Chronic Renal Failure, in short my kidneys are incredibly lazy and do nothing at all. I had a kidney transplant in January 2005 from my lovely Mother. However, dispite looking after it and the best efforts of my medical team it rejected and know no longer works, so I am on dialysis 6 days a week, and am waiting impatiently to be placed on the transplant list (i was informed a year ago I was on it , so you can understand the frustration) However due to the nature of my first transplant, with it being a live donor, I don't know how I will react to the knowledge that someone will have to die for me to continue living. So after Marks' Twitter page came up on my Twitter timeline I found his book in his bio, and decided to buy it. Now I read alot and a few books definitely come under the quote of "read in a single sitting". I was hooked from the very first story about the successful heart and lung transplant. I really enjoyed that dispite the seriousness of the topic at hand there was humour in the writing as he delicatly approached subjects many are scared to talk of. Now as a football fan I can relate to a certain chapter even more than the others I relate to and have never given it much thought. While I'll never turn a kidney down, a Portsmouth fans kidney would be potentially a poisoned chalice, given I support Southampton because I too have experienced another topic covered in this book ; cellular memory. I won't go into detail as it will ruin the book, but I hope I don't end up in the home section of Fratton Park anytime soon!

A book which I suspect will be an eye opener to someone not in the transplant community and a book which I believe could be a great help to those in the transplant community if you find yourself wanting to hear someone else story. We transplantees are a remarkable bunch!

I've always just got on with my condition, I was born with it I know no other life ,and whenever the time comes for my third chance at life, I can only hope I go after life in the same fashion as Mark.

An introspective journey

This is the journey of one man who is trying to discover if he can sense the essence of his organ donor. It is very introspective and along the way he shares a handful of stories of organ donors who take on characteristics of their deceased donor. It is a book that is basically a personal soul search without any real discovery at the end, just deep introspection.

About the Author
Jennifer Marshall is a senior lecturer at the University of Derby, and has worked in a variety of educational contexts for over 20 years. She has taught in secondary schools in the USA, and Japan as well as teaching English as a foreign language to children and adults in Poland. She worked for a number of years as an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teacher, lecturer and Cambridge examiner in the UK. Working with international students over the years, has led to research interests in higher education internationalisation policy and how institutions can meet the needs of international students. Jennifer currently teaches undergraduate modules in Comparative Education, Education and Globalisation and Education and Global Inequality as well as leading the ESOL pathway on the MA in Education at the University.

Somehow these two misfits find each other and teach each other that a forever love and romance are possible and lasting with the right person. I loved the descriptions of the ship's ports-of-call. I'm ready to book a cruise for myself!

With a title like that, how could I not read the book? Yep, a private eye gets mixed up in coffee smuggling and on the targeted side of a vendetta. But he manages to save the day and those who love him. The story faintly reminded me of the Hitchhiker’s Guide To the Galaxy, though was less comedy and more action. The action does get slow at times, and I'd flnd myself wondering what the story was supposed to be about. However, each time that simply meant a wild plot twist was coming! The ending wraps things up sufficiently while leaving a hole big enough to drive a few sequels through.

I wish I could give this more than 5 stars! The book was an absolute delight! I loved the characters, the story line.... everything about it. Some suspense, but more "fun" than anything. It mixes in genres I enjoy - detective stories, sci-fi stories and quite a bit of light-hearted humor.

No sex, swearing or real violence, other than a bit of gore when the alien's heads exploded! There's a real strong emphasis of "do the right thing" and the importance of keeping your word - we don't see nearly enough of that these days.

Being in the Seattle area, I can understand the alien's love for coffee I'm really looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

No ending...next installment tells their story after...

NO ENDING. This is just the first installment to tell you how the two characters meet. He is a wounded Army vet, lost his leg in the war, and he is on a journey to honor his fallen friend. Everything is against him. His stump is raw and not healing well. The rain has soaked all his clothes and has the terrain a muddy mess, etc. The deadly bugs, spiders, snakes, etc. just added to the depressing conditions. You really want a shower after this short story.

Then the heroine is a wealthy N.Y. heiress. More money than sense at times. She is in the jungle trying to perfect a cocoa bean to improve the chocolate for her family's chocolate empire. Her father thinks she is a flake and will never succeed. For a N.Y. gal she has a lot of savvy for surviving in the jungle. She had visited the plantation as a child but you would think that a manicured, pedicured socialite would be more lost than she was. She stays with 3 elderly nuns in the house that once was her family's. It is in pretty bad condition but they survive the elements. And there are some pretty bad ones. Snakes in the kitchen, bugs in her hair, just to name a couple. Oh for a can of Raid!!

But they meet and fall in love. She wants him to stay safe but he needs to make this journey. So, he leaves and she watches him disappear into the jungle with plans to meet 3 months later. and that is it. Read the next installment to see what happens. It was a good first part of a story. I just hate to be left hanging.

I loved this story - it pulled me from the first page! Once again, Melinda has created characters that seem like someone you've known your whole life (and since I don't actually know any chocolate heiresses - that's pretty impressive). Her way with words makes you feel like you are in the story with the characters - whether it's trekking through the jungle or tasting chocolate, you experience it along with them. I also love her sense of humor s in the book as well - romance and laughter go hand in hand. It's a great read and look forward to the rest of the series.

Gripping, Powerful and Captivating

Throw together a heiress and a solider and you have a amazing book, Tiffany (Tiff) is trying to find her way in life and also her way through a jungle all the while narrowly escaping snakes and making her way back to the nuns she is staying with.
Jackson (Jax) Hardaway has seen a lot of things in his life, many he wants to forget but he can't, coming to Ecuador was something he needed to do not just for himself but for someone who was with him in the army.
Tiff has no idea how to survive in Ecuador, but she is willing to do anything to prove to her father that she can run their family business, she just has to find the cocoa beans she needs to make it happen. When she runs into Jax, she can tell he is determined almost as if he is on a mission, after leaving him in the jungle she didn't expect him to end up passed on the her doorstep.
Jax takes quite a liking to Tiff, she doesn't treat him like the broken man he is but Tiff doesn't have the best relationship record, though could Jax be it for her, if only she could let go of her fear of relationships.
As soon as I finished reading The Wedding Promise, I thought, it can't end like this, with a cliffhanger. I then seen that it was the first book in a new series of novellas, so I did relax a bit but I am excited to read what happens next for both Jax and Tiff.
The Wedding Promise is a powerful, emotional story about two people finding their way in life and trying to sort out their fears and pasts at the same time. Another great story from Melinda Curtis, I just love reading her work so much.
If I had to sum this book up in three words, they would be Gripping, Powerful and Captivating.

Ms. Carlo's passionate scenes are works of art. The chemistry among her characters is undeniable, and the amount of tension and heat generated in each description is explosive.

While Prymal Lust was a promise of a great new series, PRYMAL OBSESSION is a certainty of a very addictive series to follow. I would recommend this book and series to everyone who is ready to be awed and blown away.

Did she have to put it so badly? And did she believe for a moment she could set the terms of their relationship?

Brut (alpha cat/wolf/human shifter) is still grieving the loss of his mate and his pack, and his focus is on gaining revenge for those he lost, so his undeniable attraction to Sidonie (a human female) is both aggravating and mystifying. Sidonie's brash, trampy facade hides a vulnerable, insecure woman with a difficult childhood that continues to haunt her and she was such an interesting character to get to know. Brut had his own complexities and insecurities dealing with his mixed heritage and appearance, but his main hurdle is the guilt he feels over his feelings for Sidonie. Brut and Sidonie had such a strong connection, and excellent chemistry. Great story. I hope Lycus's story will be coming, and I'm looking forward to Bandit's story in Prymal Passion due out December 2014.

There's a whole lot of heat between these pages

Burt Jurango is the most tortured shifter I've ever read. He's an Alpha who has lost his mate and pack. Then he meets beautiful sexy heiress Sidonie Walker and he feels that familiar pull. He feels guilty for wanting her but he can't stay away. I don't know if it's his human side or if there is an inner struggle between his wolf and cat. Which part of him wants Sidonie Walker and which parts are fighting against it? Sidonie knows she wants him. She knows her heart will be broken but she's willing to take any part of him. The heat between them is palpable. I was unable to put Prymal Obsession down. Well written, strong characters and delicious menus. My new favorite.

I enjoyed this book very much

I enjoyed this book very much. While the story was a short read I felt that I had enough of a background of each character to give me a basis for understanding their current situations and actions. I felt empathetic for both Danny and Sarah and while they do blame each other for how things turned out, I cannot say for sure who was wrong. Sure they both made mistakes, but its complicated. The dynamic of rich vs. poor is a common element in society but judging Sarah's actions, I could not? Also, they were both kids so I can only hope they've grown up and can accept responsibility and either make it work or move on. Overall this was a good short read that kept my interest. I'm interested to read books 3 and 4 to see what they decide to do.

Great book to read. Can't wait to find out what happens next for Sarah and Danny. Sounds very interesting. I hated that she treated him the way she did when they were teens. I hope that they work their issues out with each other and her family as well. It sounds like he brings her adventure to feel alive again.
