Debra Mullins introduced readers to the world of the Truthseers in Prodigal Son. Now the story of the lost Atlanteans continues in Heart of Stone.

Darius Montana is a Seer. With his gift of empathy, he can see into the hearts of others, both human and Atlantean. When his family comes into possession of one of the legendary power stones of Atlantis, Darius is sent to find the Stone Singer.

Faith Karaluros is the last Stone Singer. Manipulated all her life for her rare ability, she is widowed after her husband tried to steal her power for the Mendukati, an extremist group that hunts Seers. Faith wants nothing more than to stay out of this war when Darius comes to find her―just in time to rescue her from being kidnapped.

Faith goes with Darius, determined to do the job and be on her way with the money that can set her up where no one can find her again. She didn't count on the Mendukati sending a hit man after her. Darius swears he can protect her, but when she discovers he is one of the rare Atlanteans whose powers work on their own kind, can she trust him to keep his word, or is she being used again?

Good Sequel to Prodigal Son
By William Bentrim
Heart of stone by Debra Mullins.
This a romance novel with a fair amount of action. Faith and Darius are the main protagonist in this story. They are descendants of survivors of the destruction of Atlantis. The story is really about their love and how they establish it.

With the love story is the action and that is the war between the Seers and the Mendukati, two opposing groups from the survivors of Atlantis. It's the story of love and treachery with quite a bit of action to keep you busy.

The steamy scenes put this book into the romantic category but the action and general story are certainly palatable to the male reader. No, that is not a sexist remark, as I said about Prodigal Son that is an observation that most guys won't admit to reading any kind of romantic novel. This book struck me more of a romantic novel than it's predecessor, Prodigal Son. I do think it is still a good action/adventure/urban fantasy with romantic overtones.

I recommend it.

My fav PNR this year
By Addicted2Heroines
The unique world building, exceptional characters, and steamy romance made Heart of Stone the best paranormal romance I've read this year.

The story is oozing with sexual tension and you find yourself quickly falling for the disabled hero, Darius....yes, you read that right. The leading man has a disability. He walks with a cane and when he has overexerted himself he uses a wheelchair.

I found both Darius and the leading lady, Faith, to be refreshingly original and I adored their relationship. Faith was a lovable character with unique talents and she and Darius had great chemistry together.

The plot itself wasn't complex or filled with surprises but the interesting magical elements and various character POV's kept the pace moving along nicely.

Prodigal Son, the debut, left me with lukewarm feelings toward the Truth Seers series but Heart of Stone has me hooked.

Loved It!
By Dr. Debra
Debra Mullins has written another winner in Heart of Stone. I reread the first book, Prodigal Son, right before Heart of Stone was released, so all the details were fresh in my mind. This book takes place where book one left off, continuing the paranormal, romantic suspense, family saga (is that enough descriptors?) Likable characters, rapid twists and turns of the plot, the expansion of the ancient world of Atlantis, all make for a riveting story. I can't wait for book three!!!
