Reagan and the Gryphons (Volume 1), by L H Borlovan

Fifteen year old Reagan Eckstein has been living with epilepsy for most of his young life. He'll tell you it's like living between two worlds, being dragged from one to the next without warning. But when Reagan stumbles upon a crystal prism lying in the mud and sets it on his bedroom windowsill, he quickly learns that the prism is more than a rainbow thrower. Just beyond the light is the heavenly land of Teshran, a land of talking beasts, and creatures neither human, nor animal, but Divine. It is a dawning world, a place that has never seen night, or death, or injustice, until Reagan writes the first chapter of its history the day he meets an illuminated hare called Nigril, who promises a cure for Reagan's disease. But when Teshran is plunged into darkness by the warlock's enchantment, it becomes a world subject to the same evils as the world of men and one beast who wants Reagan's soul. Desperate to escape Teshran, Reagan follows the land's age-old wisdom and seeks the gryphons for help... What he doesn't yet know is that the gryphons are seeking him. "This is not an obsolete weapon." Aridai commented, correcting Reagan's thought. "It is a spiritual weapon, forged for spiritual warfare. It is older than the world of men; and men fashioned blades after it for their own evil purpose. Go, take My Sword, Aedrhem, from Ruel. See how He fits your hand."

Something fresh, Truly meaningful, Interesting and over all very well written. Highly recommended!

Firstly, as a young man I was an enormously avid reader of all kinds of books, one of which was my Favorite was John Bunyan's "Pilgrim's Progress" for its meaningful description of the Christian journey through Life, and rich abundance of deep spiritual types. (Of which many stay with me to this day.) However "Pilgrims Progress" is in someways so deep it is hard to be understood for someone young in years, and I found that in the reading of this book "Reagan and the Gryphons" a truly pleasant surprise, for the abundance of truth, and ease in which they were portrayed.

Then I found that I was moved much more than expected Reagan's journey through Teshran.
At times I laughed feeling Reagan's joy as for the first time as He was free from bondage.
At others I cried for the simple display of meaning that lifted Reagan, (and Myself as well) and the selfless display of courage by those around Regan willing to give to protect.
I was warmed by the love that Shone from Aridai towards His creation. Strengthened by the many lessons.
Reminded that truly Life is precious, and filled with purpose, as Reagan started to understand that He was significant.
For truly We are all significant as there can be no other to take our place, but in order for that to be effectual, We must realize it is so.

In short I believe that this book is an inspired writing, and should be of true assistance to any looking for truth, and even for those not looking it may just be found in the reading.

The Plot is quick, but never loses sight of the goal, and what must be portrayed in order to bind the pieces into a whole.
The world it portrays is colorful, and full of vivid imagery. The lessons valuable.
I would recommend this book to anyone old enough to ask good questions. Even for parents that are looking for a way to open the door to questions from their children.

All in all I loved reading this book, am sure I will reread it numerous times, and fully expect to see more each time.

Beautiful story, fast plot
By d_momof4
I don't consider myself much of a reader, but nearly every page of this book stood out to me. It is very descriptive, full of magnificent creatures and beautiful Biblical allusions, bringing up topics worth praying about.
However, a major con is the speed of the plot. I like how you can dive into Teshran in the first chapter, but the rest of the story moves on rather quickly, quicker than other fantasy books. In the midst of the fast paced plot, L. H. Borlovan focuses more on Reagan's relationship with Aridai (which makes sense since Aridai represents Jesus and I am not trying to take away the character's purpose), but it would have been nice to also get to know Drayle and the other gryphons more, since they are titular characters.
Other than that, I sooo enjoyed this unique story. I love all the characters and look forward to the rest of the series! I highly recommend this read to both Christians and non-Christians, because the meaning behind this spiritual allegory is priceless.
