I can't get enough of Joanna Archer and Signs of the Zodiac!

I loved dipping my toes back into the world of Joanna Archer and the Zodiac! I can't even tell you how happy I was when I heard that there was going to be a new novella in the series, which finished with book six, The Neon Graveyard. I was mildly disappointed with the ending of that book and still had many questions. In The Reordering some of my questions were answered and I received a wonderful dose of Joanna and Hunter. At least enough to appease me until perhaps another book or spin-off series? Hmmm...?

Joanna Archer thought that she saved the world but instead, she created a reordering. The world of the Zodiac is in chaos and there's a mysterious Shadow vying for power. When Zoe Archer goes missing Joanna and Hunter must leave the peaceful existence they have finally built for themselves to find her. But when they do, will Joanna be forced to choose between the life she has growing inside of her and the one she gave up?

Tense, action-packed, and kick-ass; The Reordering continues in the same take-no-prisoners, make-no-apologies vain as the previous Signs of the Zodiac books. A quick, page-turner perfect for fans but may be confusing for new readers. My only complaint about the novella is that I wanted more sparks between Joanna and Hunter. It was sweet but lacked the heat. A must read for Zodiac fans!

A Great Visit With Old Friends

When I heard that Vicki Pettersson had written a novella set back in the world of the Signs of the Zodiac series I was thrilled. Zodiac was one of the first series I read when I returned to reading after years and years of school degrees, marriage, and children taking the lion's share of my time leaving me precious little for books of my own choosing. Needless to say, it was a pleasure to revisit Joanna Archer and see what she and Hunter have been up to. The novella picks up only about six weeks after the series left off and, as such, it doesn't work as a true stand alone story. I don't think it would make much sense to anyone who hasn't read the (six book) series. But if you've read the series then you should make every effort to read this. It seems to me that the novella opens the door for Pettersson to return to this series one day since it looks as though things didn't quite work out the way Joanne had hoped. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking but until the author gives a definitive 'no", I'm leaving the light on for Joanna and Hunter.

A brief return to the world of the Zodiak

This is a look back into a series that was generally a good read as it was being published. Pettersson is a very competent writer and makes her characters draw the reader into the book. I felt a bit cheated at the end of the series as the ending, in my opinion, did not live up to the first book of the series. This novella brings us back to the lead character, after the initial series has ended, and reopens the world to additional stories. In terms of violence and sexual content it is very tame. Worth reading if you liked the original series. Reasonably priced as a Kindle download.

A Historical Saga

I am very glad I purchased the "Time Walkers Complete Collection". After reading the first book as a free download, I knew I wanted to continue the saga.

"The Time Walkers" is more than just a time travel book, it is also a historic saga and love story that centers around 17th century native Americans interaction with the English and Norse immigrants. It includes historical events that makes this feel more like non-fiction.

The writing is excellent and I only found a few typos in the editing. By the time I finished the boxed set, I really felt like I knew each character personally. This saga is filled with passion, anger, drama, joy, conflict, survival, history, relationship, sorrow and grief.

This book is a fast ride that I highly recommend.

All four books in the series are wonderful. I keep nagging my sister to start the series so I can talk to her about it. I can't wait until the first book of the spin-off series comes out in December. EB Brown is now in my top five list of favorite authors. I will definitely seek out more historical romance novels dealing with the early American time period.

Strolling through time.

There's an old joke in country music and soap operas about being one's own grandparent. This set almost makes this real.

An ancient set of Norse stones when touched by a pure blood magic user known as the Blooded MacMoahlian who has an open wound, the stone holder and /or anyone holding on to the holder can be whisked to another time. The era they wind up in depends either upon the stone, or upon a trinket that brings the stone holder to a specific time.

This collection sheds an interesting light on the Native Americans and their dealings with the English. As is oft the case, the newcomers are often ignorant of the rights of the original landholders, and chest them.

Of course, there is bad and good on both sides of the fence, so to speak. The original landholders can and are equally disingenuous in dealing with the white man.

Since the main characters are tribal, we get to see more of their way of life. Their loves, hates, their ridings and their settling down for the night. We get to know some of their language as well, and how they really unite with family.

There is some mention of sex between willing couples, but no blow by blow descriptions. The sex included in the story tends to help propell it by telling you these are people who care for each other instead of take up a few pages of moaning, groaning, groping, and pumping.

Horsemen with slightly Scottish accents isn't too bad, either. It's entirely possible that those mighty warriors came from the auld sod. They were believable as men and women of honor.

As always, the editor in me was challenged to overcome the occasional typos and grammatical errors, but they weren't a constant and don't take away from the enjoyment of the story. The writer is to be commended for telling the story from several viewpoints while keeping to third person.

Action, adventure, time travel, history, and a little magic all blend nicely in this, and once you start, you do want to see what happens when.

L.M. Young's Bayowolf is a small gem of a tale about a Sioux Indian boy who saves an injured wolf pup and a connection of love forms between animal and man. The story takes place in 1876 on the Wyoming prairie as Union soldiers send Native Americans to the confines of reservations, forcing tribes to flee their homeland. Boy and wolf must grow up quickly as they're asked to make a hard choice facing the difference in their individual destinies. But they come away with a deeper understanding of each other and their separate worlds, and we feel their bond endures.
It's the perfect length for a child's bedtime story, containing wonderful illustrations by the author.

The great little book about the wayward adventure of a young wolf pup is both exciting and educational. My grandchildren loved it and they are varied ages. This is a great first reader and bedtime story. I hope L.M. Young will write a sequel. Very well done.

This story is like no other I have read for a long time

The title of this book is quite provocative and it exudes a mystery and sadness that will keep the reader propelled to read the whole book and find out how things turn out for Selena Goodwin.

This story is like no other I have read for a long time. It is filled with angst and it is difficult not to empathize with Selena. But she overcomes so much grief and hardship for a girl her age. And yet, it seems that no matter how much she overcomes there is more and more to overcome and some of it worse than she had to endure before.

The story is about Selena, a girl who suddenly discovers that everything she knew is no longer the case. She has to adapt to an entirely different reality from the one she was familiar with. The only person she really trusts is her adoptive father. Selena is plunged into a world that she never thought existed. It is a reality of secrets, deception and death. Selena gets to the point where she can trust nobody because she is unsure if they are trustworthy. What a difficult way to grow up!

This is supposed to be the best years of Selena’s life, but instead they are the most difficult and full of people who she doesn’t know or trusts. Selena is not merely faced with maturing, and falling in love but she must learn how to live in a completely unknown world. She even has to rely on people who are far from reliable.

Selena was always interested in the world of the paranormal as she was growing up. But she never expected that she may live in a world that has paranormal features. This is so scary for a girl Selena’s age, yet she shows tremendous courage to endure this world and to even overcome it.

I loved this book. It is a book that most adolescent girls will find quite inspiring. No matter how hard they believe their lives are, it can’t be as hard as Selena’s life is. Growing up is never easy. But with courage and perspicacity we can all overcome great odds.

Can't put it down!

I don't get much time to read, but this book moves quickly and I didn't want to put it down! I haven't finished it yet, had to put it down for the holidays, so I don't know where it goes, but I am looking forward to some time to get back into it. Dying to find out what happens! Looking forward to more from this author!

Diabetes is one of the most common health conditions. My mother is diabetic, so I know how hard it is for someone to have this illness. I liked that the book explains each type of diabetes, this helps us understand the differences between each type to get a better handle on them. With a complex yet easy to follow story line, Crimson is one of those rare books that I simply could not put down...
From the very first page, I was drawn into the lives of a set of lovable characters who face the risks and challenges of living in a much changed world. Wise has created a fantastic novel full of heart pounding moments and non-stop action!
A well written, descriptive and adventurous book from a very gifted and promising first time author.

Very confusing, I Don't know if something got lost in translation or English was poorly used . Most of the information presented could be considered wrong and sometimes bordering on dangerous, I.E: recommending Licorice, a substance known to raise blood pressure. I got the impression that the author was completely out of his league trying to explain difficult metabolic functions. Sorry for the bad review because I know how hard is to put down on paper ones' thoughts. Conrad Samayoa

In this novel an informal information-sharing group of Police Captains from Boston and surrounding communities pick up on a group of seemingly unrelated crimes which, as they are investigated, slowly reveal a plot of much larger dimensions which could lead the Boston area in ruins. As they race to bring in the FBI and Homeland Security it soon becomes clear they also need military help to head off a catastrophe of monumental proportions and the hunt becomes a chess match with a group of determined terrorists.

As he did in his first novel, "Compound Target," author B. Raymond Gary weaves the impossible and the improbable into a tale of the feasible. The experts claimed all along this could never happen...but are they right? The possibility they are wrong could lead to another incident in an American city and a huge victory for terrorism.

B. Raymond Gary lives and works in the north woods of Wisconsin. He is a retired sales and marketing executive and is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He is an avid shooter and reloader and competes in USPSA Pistol matches at the local level. He is a certified USPSA Range Officer and an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor.

A good fast paced thriller

B Raymond Gary obviously know a lot about guns. ships,planes, and the military...yet Moving Target had many compassionate characters. I found myself immersed in tears several times while reading. this and the ending was so beautifull and appropriate. The story flowed well and kept the reader interested throughout each chapter. The novel builds up suspense from the first page to the last one. Very thrilling!

Once again this story like his other book Compound Target is totally feasible. Couldnt put it down and the book hit the ground running. I love the way he writes, you can actually imagine in your minds eye that you are there. And the tie into his other book is neat. Not expected at all. Cant wait for another book from him. 2 thumbs up! I tell everyone I know to read his work.

This is such a gripping story. Very detailed. Excellent reading. I couldn't put it down. Highly recommended reading for anyone who likes to be on the edge of their seat till the end.
