Almost better than a hug...just when you need it most.

As an RN I see families trying to deal with the sudden crisis of caring for an elder loved one just when emotions are the highest. I would not hesitate to recommend this insightful, compassionate and easy to follow guide book to anyone in need. It offers
excellent insider advice and tips to navigate through the often confusing and overwhelming medical morass with helpful websites for more information and downloadable forms. This book is almost better than a hug, just when you need it most.

Good resource for Care for Elders!

I took care of my mother and grandmother until they died. Having the information in this book would have made my decisions easier to make. The stress and strain of dealing with loved ones as they are aging and dying is tremendous and one that just seemed to pop up one day for me to deal with. I was not prepared for what I had to deal with. It's comforting to know there are resources, like this book, available.

On the one hand I love M J Scott. I like this storyline or liked it better in the first book. The flip side is Ash has to be the dumbest and most infuriating 'heroine' ever. If I could I would shake some damn sense into her.

Stupid move after stupid move. And I think that this gulf between her and Dan is ridiculous and slightly unbelievable but what do I now. You fought to finally see common sense but can't articulate what you need or fight to make things work.

I'm torn now between wanting to know more and not wanting to read abt her dumb shenanigans that get more peeps hurt because she fails to be completely honest. And if she ends up w Marco I'll be hella pissed. What made the first book great was the love you could feel underlying and now it's gone. Whomp.

And the Sumerian ram of hammered gold and lapis-lazuli from Queen Shad-Ad’s tomb ‘could quite conceivably have been made by Fabergé.’

Robert Payne (1911-1983) was born in Cornwall, U.K. His father was English, his mother French. He was educated at St. Paul's School in London and at the universities of Liverpool, Capetown in South Africa, Munich and The Sorbonne. During his lifetime he had over a hundred books published on a wide range of subjects, the widest range of any known author. He was known chiefly for his biographies and history books, among them Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Gandhi, Leonardo, Chaplin, the Christian Centuries, The World of Art. He also wrote novels and poetry. Librarians loved him; critics raved about him. Orville Prescott of The New York Times referred to him as “a literary phenomenon of astounding versatility and industry.”

Another timeless creation of the Genius, Robert Payne

To compose a review without at least producing a cursory glance at the magnificent career of Stephen Pierre Robert Payne would be to impose an unprecedented discourtesy to one of the greatest authors and geniuses of the 20th century.

Born in 1911, Payne pursued a number of careers throughout his life including that of a professor of English poetry and a lecturer in naval architecture (1943-46); head of the English department at Alabama College, Montevallo (1949-54); war correspondent in Spain (1938); correspondent for the Times of London in Changsha, China (1942); in addition having been the founding director of Columbia University Translation Center.

Despite having pursued such a varied number of occupational positions, Payne is best known for the remarkable body of literature he produced spanning in date of creation from 1940 to 1980, which consisted of nearly 200 brilliantly executed texts.

"The world of art" is no exception to the rule of Payne's stellar quality that he exuded though his literary compilations. Belles-lettres could only begin to describe the magical quality that acts an overtone to this composition, allowing the reader to drift through nearly 4000 years of Fine Art history as though it took place within a decade of time.

Although, this text should be regarded as a general summary of art history, still it contains much information that a reader of any level shall not have been exposed to previously.

In sum, "The World of Art" is an easy, enjoyable, and truly enlightening read; a product of an author who is able to relate first hand, and perform intellectually astute and accurate assessments of the existence of most of the greatest artistic achievements in world history that were still visible in 20th century.

Highly recommended indeed.

decent time killer, but not the next best novel ever written.

This book was free when I picked it up, and I've since purchased parts 2 and 3. Yes, I have to call them parts. They should all be together as one complete book. I definitely cannot give it 4 stars, as the main female is extremely annoying and difficult to like. The male counterpart is unrealistic and one dimensional.

Very Hot and Steamy - Cliff Hanger

This book was pretty hot! April and Cole meet in first class on a flight to Vegas and the chemistry is instant! They indulge in some steamy and mind blowing mile high action in the bathroom - afterwards April is mortified and quickly leaves the plane after it lands. Little does she know, but her and Cole are going to the same wedding! And that is when the real sparks fly. I really liked this book, it was a quick read for me and I couldn't put it down. I would have given it a 5 star, but this is a cliff hanger book and I want to know what happens next without having to wait!

While this author is not a bad writer, I have to wonder if erotica is the right genre for her. The writing was fast-paced and had the typical "romance novel" feel to it (not necessarily a bad thing,) but at some parts the descriptions were a bit odd (repeatedly using the word "orbs" to describe female anatomy, for instance.) I think the author has potential, but perhaps needs to practice a bit more, at least within this specific genre. The story was just OK -- it's too short to get any real "feel" for the characters, and there is a cliffhanger to try to persuade you to buy the second book. Some of the dialogue didn't feel natural, and so far the leading man doesn't seem to have any redeeming qualities other than being "hot." Overall not bad; but not quite good, either.

Dark and moving story

Who doesn't remember the story of Little Red Riding Hood? Well, Red of the Woods is sooo not the same thing. Author Lana Axe takes a timeless tale and puts a very dark twist on it with motives of revenge. The grandmother here, Erthel, takes Red with her as she is forced into exile after being accused of witchcraft. Probably not unfounded as she then places a curse on poor Red that is designed to punish the townspeople. This was a twisted tale that I thoroughly enjoyed reading because it shows how our feelings of resentment can send us off in such oddball directions, hurting those closest to us. Very well written and affirms again why I am a fan of Lana Axe.

A Fairy Tale going back to its roots, powerful and dark. This story caught my interest right from the first paragraph and I had to finish reading it there and then, needing to know what will happen next. Lana Axe is spinning a tale of superstition, magic and powerful spells that made me want to know more and more.
It is well written and, dare I hope, just the beginning of Red's adventures in the Woods.

I love smart 'takes' on classic stories. If done well, a new version of a myth can breathe life into the original as well as offer something new. It should work even if you haven't read your Brothers Grimm and don't know who Little Red Riding Hood is. Author Lana Axe successfully pays homage to the famous fairy tale whilst spinning a cool short story that is both smart and entertaining in its own right.

This looks good and pretty simple as long as you can read music (and know the proper fingering for your recorder). It is not for rank beginners, but these are easy arrangements if you have some basic music skills. Lot of good songs for Christmas!

At the High Museum of Art in Atlanta there is an exhibit of the retrospective work by Wifredo Lam that runs through May 24, 2015. In a companion catalogue, Wifredo Lam: Imagining New World edited by Elizabeth T. Goizueta, is full of detailed back ground of this Afro-cuban artist. This book was pubiced to accompany the exhibit and is full of contributions by experts in varying disciplines.
Born to a Afro-Cuban mother and a Chinese Father, Wifredo was influenced by the modernism in the 20 centuries and his travels to Paris and around the world enabled him to create his style. He also was widely influenced by the Nègritude movement. His signature work is a blend of contemporary themes and touches on the inner aspect of religion, surrealism, and intimate relationships.
The exhibit has examples of his significant works. The book is more than a collection of scholarly reviews but also beautifully illustrated in color where the viewer can take a closer look at his work. His paintings contain a wide range of iconography and reflect the changes of his world.
Wifredo Lam: Imagining New World edited by Elizabeth T. Goizueta is a perfect companion to anyone who checks out the exhibit and also to those that want to understand this tormented artist.

Excellently written children’s book!

I took this with me to my daughters’ house and read it with my 3 grandchildren ranging in age from 2 to 10 and all 3 of them loved it. They thought the story was fantastic as 2 of them had just returned to school recently after summer break and they both come home everyday and tell their little brother all about it, just like Wiley does with Moxy. The 2 year old loved the pictures and the sound of my voice, OF COURSE.

I would highly recommend this wonderful book to parents with children of all ages.

Thank you Angela for giving me a wonderful time with my Grandkids.

School can be Fun !!!!!

I read this book to my daughter. We thoroughly enjoyed the pictures and the story line. Wiley the Rabbit loves school and tells his friend Moxy all the great and wonderful things she does at school. Hint: There is a big surprise at the end. I recommend this book to parents who want to give their children a glimpse of all the fun things they can do at school. Great theme. Great Pictures. Great story. Give it 5 stars.

Great read for young kids!

This is a really cute book that your kids would really love because of the twist ending. It describes how fun school can be with all the different activities and also has funny humor in it as well. Our five and six-year-old loved it and
really laughed hard at the end!
