Great read for a new series

I've loved all the books I've read by Barbara Freethy, this one was no exception. She weaves a good story about one of a group of friends who all agreed to be each others bridesmaids when the time came. This is Andrea Blains story. She's career oriented and determined to get a story at all costs, or so she thinks at the start. She is assigned to write a story about sexy billionaire Alexander Donovan. She thinks he has secrets and is determined she will uncover them. When she does she has to decide what is more important her career or the truth and what it would do to the people involved.
Barbara Freethy knows how to tell a story and keep you glued to the page. I've read her Callaway series and Daniel's Gift and I've enjoyed all the them.

Meh. I just wasn't drawn in to either Andrea or Alex. I kept reading to figure out Alex's secret, but it wasn't worth it. The dialogue between the characters was too contrived.

The past year has been rough for one of our favorite Amish fiction authors but you wouldn't know that from her pink umbrella attitude which is: Surviving Breast Cancer with Humor, Laughs, and a Whole Lot of Support! I say rough because once you read The Faces of Cancer: Sarah Price’s Story, you will fully understand what she has been going through. Most people would have been feeling sorry for themselves and asking “why me” but not Sarah. She is an inspiration to me and women everywhere. A force to be reckoned with! I love that she is sharing her story…a glimpse inside what cancer really looks like. The fears, the struggles, and the impact that it has on loved ones. Cancer is terrible. Period. Even through all the darkness there is always something positive to find. Like Sarah says “Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass…It’s about learning to dance in the rain.” I couldn't agree more!!

This is such an inspirational read! I live in a community that knows too well, unfortunately, the impact breast cancer has on a woman, her family, friends and the community at large. Sarah Price tackles this subject as someone who knows first hand because she has been going through it for several years now. Her account is honest, funny, but most of all, truly inspirational. For anyone going through this terrible disease, it's a must read. Consider sending it as a gift to anyone you know who is battling breast cancer too. It will uplift them and give them the strength to keep fighting.

This book is rich in information. The Ebola epidemic is a scary proposition. It pays to be aware of everything about it, especially how it spreads and the preventive measures needed to avoid contracting the disease. This book has all that and more. It tells of the epidemic’s history, how it has spread and how it is transmitted, the signs and symptoms of the disease, how an outbreak can be contained, recommended treatment, how it can be avoided and more. The beauty of this book is that it was not written for medical people, but for ordinary people like you and me.

Wow the ebola outbreak really opened my eyes as to how this virus can be passed around. Found quite a few tips on how to survive an ebola outbreak too. Around the World--Lapside View

Award-winning Carole P Roman's series If You Were Me and Lived in...is a wonderful way to introduce children, ages pre-K to 8 years, to cultures of people around the world. Greece, beautifully illustrated by Kelsea Wierenga and simply written, is sure to capture a child's interest and imagination. A pronunciation guide at the back and embedded within the book enables children to learn simple words and names of places in Greece. From shopping for a koukla (doll) to visiting the Acropolis or the Parthenon, from eating stuffed grape leaves to playing soccer or learning about the Olympics, kids will learn about Greecian traditions, foods, and geography. It is well known that books can take an armchair reader (or one sitting on a lap) anywhere and Roman does a fantastic job of taking her readers to Greece, a place of beauty and age-old customs. Highly recommended for a child's library.

I Want To Go To Greece

Living in Greece some people might call it the Hellenic Republic and some call it Hellas.
Athens which is the capital is more then 3,400 year old and is referred to as "the cradle of western civilization."

People living in Greece are luck cause they live in a democracy which means it is a government that is run by many people and not just one ruler.
The children have names like Georgios, Dimitrios, or Nikolaos for boys and Eleni, Katernia and Sophia for girls. Some of my friends have the same names so maybe they came from Greece?
Most children are names for there grandparents which is not uncommon. The grandmother is called Opa and the grandfather is called Ya-ya.

A famous tourist attraction is the Acropolis which is a rocky mountain that has an ancient fort on top. The Parthenon is a broken, columned building. Years ago this was a temple and was named for Athena Nike the goddess for whom Athens is named

Touring is fun but you have to eat so you might try fresh stuffed grape leaves, salad and tzatziki sauce. This sauce is very tangy and is made from yogurt and cucumber which goes on roast lamb. Some might prefer freshly caught grilled octopus or grilled slabs of white cheese. As for myself, the best part of the meal is the dessert and that would be called loukoumades which is a doughnut covered with honey and cinnamon.

Tourists love to see the synchronized movements of the men in uniform which is the changing of the guard and takes place each morning at eleven so you have to remember to get there in time.

The New Year is started with a holiday called Casto Vassilopit and you would try to get lucky and find a hidden coin in your Basil cake. If you do it will mean that you will have good luck in the New Year You might check with your friends to see if they also found a hidden coin.

This book is a wonderful and informative for families thinking of planning a trip to Greece or just introducing younger children to a different culture. A great colorful and enjoyable read.

Visiting Greece With Your Children is Such Fun!

I thought it would be fun to go to Greece and take our children!

Undoubtedly before children all over the world finish school, they will have studied and learned to a lesser or greater extent about the teachers who were once there and started schools--Aristotle, Plato and Socrates are probably the most famous, but there are many others who helped mold the ideas of a democracy such as we have here in the United States.

If you meet a little girl, she may be carrying a koukla (kook-la) something like one of your dolls... Their parents or other relatives probably bought the doll(s) with euros... While you have your money out, you might go ahead and have lunch! Try some stuffed grape leaves or...You may have had a sandwich called a gyro which is popular there. Have you ever eaten one? Oh, they are delicious! Do try what each country can offer you, that's the way to learn more about what is grown, what animals are there and what the culture traditionally serves... Oh, and don't forget to try the loukoumades, which is a doughnut covered with honey and cinnamon... Yum!

Did you know that the Olympics Games, which still go on today, all over the world, were created in the town of Olympia, Greece, in the 8th century B.C.?

Learn about the Parliament Building ceremony, the Acropolis, the Parthenon, Athena, The Feast of Basil and why there is a coin in the cake, and more in this full-color children's book, which includes an extensive list of all the new words you will learn and how to pronounce them in the Greek language...

Wouldn't you like to visit? I know I would. This is a must read!

I finished reading NGfS last night and it was well worth the read! Scott Baker is a great writer and I loved his attention to detail. Not only were the German Reich descriptions spot on- making the story more believable than ever, but also his minute attention to every gory scene made the gruesome situations seem horribly life-like. At one point in the story, I actually could hear the bones breaking and it made my jaw clench- in a good way! Lastly, I want to note that the editing was impeccable! It is rare these days to read a self-published novel and not be discouraged by the numerous mistakes; one's that make my jaw clench – in a bad way. Mr. Baker, kudos on this fun and absolutely enjoyable Zombie novella! I encourage any fan of the genre to pick up a copy and see why Scott Baker is a favorite for so many.

Moves the story along nicely, setting things up for a fitting climax in story 3

Read this as part of the compilation and was very glad I'd picked up all three. Knew this was a serial approach going in, so the short nature of the offering wasn't a problem. In fact, it really served to focus the story and keep it moving right along - no wandering around with extraneous details, just a direct and to the point story, well formed and well told.

This installment expands on the details uncovered at the end of the first episode and introduces you to a cast of new characters while moving the overall plot line along. I'm not saying it's filler - it's a good story of its own right, but having read all three together, this one was 'world building' that really made the other two pop. The ending would have riled me some if I hadn't had story 3 on hand to start reading right away - so I'll suggest you do the same.

He has written some of the best indie books I have read

I am reading my way through this series by Bernard Schaffer, an author of whom I am a big fan. He has written some of the best indie books I have read. This is part two of a space opera serial comparable to Heinlein or Roddenberry which should please fans of both. The story introduces a lot of new characters and ends with a cliffhanger. Well-done. I need to read part three now!

Well written what can I say? The pieces are too small. One could starve on this meal. And of course the story will continue " stay tuned for the next episode ".
