admire Dr. Guy's courage in telling her story of MS. And I appreciate the straight-forward language she uses. Even though she's a doctor, this book is very easy to read and makes a lot of sense for someone starting to learn about how to manage MS.

An encouraging book.

"Love Yourself Healthy: A Physician's Guide to Healing MS, in my opinion, is a blueprint on how to live a healthy life-period.
Written is an easy and informative fashion, Dr. Guy gives you an up close and personal look at her journey with MS and details how she refused to accept the dismal prognosis she had been handed.

She admits that she was the patient who dutifully followed doctor's orders to the "t." Yet, as her condition began to deteriorate, living a less than optimal life was not an option.

Her computer began her trusty sidekick-the Robin to her Batman.
Dr. Guy tirelessly researched alternative treatment modalities which she discovered coupled with traditional medicine, brought about positive results and hope for a brighter future. Her candid assessment of which treatments were successful and those that were less so, is refreshing and eye-opening.

Dr. Guy's message is not to disconnect people with MS from their physicians, but offers a starting point of how to build a collaborative team who supports your vision of how you want to live your life with MS.
Simply put, Dr. Guy is a fighter and a shinning example of how all of us should be our biggest health care advocates.

Very accessible and informative description of MS from diagnosis through its developmental stages.
Chock full of information, this book lays out the facts about MS and the many ways in which the disease can progress. In this book the author, an MD who has MS, shares her personal journey filled with trials, tribulations and triumphs. Not only is this book informative and provides many resources, also it is written in a kind and loving tone with liberal doses of light humor.
Finally this book leaves you feeling hopeful as the author explains that, even though there is no cure for MS, there are definitely steps you can take to improve your experience and quality of life.

However, the Reaper knows that there is more to be done than simply rebuild and protect those under his charge. Evil is afoot in the land; they must contend not only with the reanimated dead, but also with the forces of the shadow government. There are also plenty of bad men who are ready and willing to take advantage of the weak.

The Reaper’s mission is clear – he must fight the Lord's fight and take the battle to the evil minions of Satan, both living and undead. He needs to help the survivor groups band together into cohesive assemblies better able to survive this new world, and finally, he must scout westward into Colorado in order to recon the shadow government's stronghold there.

Follow the adventures of the Reaper as he travels to the city of Paris, Missouri. There he meets several disparate groups of survivors. He also learns of a band of marauders who are ravaging the countryside, killing those that stand against them, and enslaving the rest. The older folk and the young children are killed outright; the rest of the prisoners are treated brutally, forced to live and work under the most inhumane of circumstances. The women are repeatedly raped and beaten.

The Reaper must convince the survivors to band together and take their town back from the marauders – all whilst fighting the hordes of undead, their mutual distrust of one another, and their fear of the overwhelming numbers arrayed against them.

This is a fantastic branch off of the BBB Series! Everyone's favorite Character, Reaper, goes off to change the world & follow his mission! It's full of action, emotion, new characters, & of course the Godless! Amazing work by Sean Liebling! You Will NOT be sorry when you get this book!!!!!! Reaper does what he is best at & a whole lot more! Please leave a review for our Indie authors it helps them to write more stories like this one!!

Yep, this book gets it right. Great back story if you read the other series but, you don't have to read them first. Strong main character, believable action, sound decisions, enough detail but not so much that you have to be a veteran to understand.
If you like military or zombie books / movies you found the right book.
Something others don't seem to get: strong female characters. That is a bonus right there.
This series is gonna be cool. Do yourself a favor and buy it.

“As a small child I dreamed of growing up to be a chestnut mare. I was terribly disappointed when I found out people couldn’t magically transform into animals but I got over it by immersing myself in the world of fairy tales and thus began my lifelong passion for reading and make-believe.” Lora was born in the small town of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta; the middle child of five girls. In 2006, she and her eldest sister moved to a hobby farm in the remote Kootenay area of British Columbia and for five years had several country adventures which included raising chickens and goats, encounters with wildlife and wrangling the neighbour’s horses. Currently she lives in BC’s Fraser Valley in a household of women spanning two generations of family with a collection of cats and a teacup Chihuahua affectionately known as Mexican Kitty.

Enchanting! A perfect choice for travellers looking for a new novel to read on the road...

The Enchanted One is a comforting travel companion. I spent much of last year in transits, airplanes, and hotels for work and holidays.
This lovely book was a welcome distraction from waiting and even better when relaxing on my holidays. Lizzie’s adventures felt personal, like I was sharing the story of a good girlfriend. The supernatural themes are incorporated so easily it seemed like a given that we could all face these tribulations and embark on adventures of this kind without notice. The author’s description of the Canadian landscapes are so descriptive I felt transported there. She describes what sounds like heaven. Really looking forward to the 2nd instalment of the trilogy.

She grows into a powerful woman who is comfortable in her own skin

The Enchanted One is a contemporary fantasy about a woman named Lizzie who must come to terms with her unusual abilities. To me, it was a tale of personal growth and self-discovery. Lizzie starts out with low self-esteem, lack of confidence, fears, and insecurities. She grows into a powerful woman who is comfortable in her own skin. By the end of the book, I was very proud of Lizzie.

The book is well-written with only a few errors–primarily punctuation, which is to be expected with an ARC.

It started out rocky for me because I couldn’t relate to Lizzie. I understood how some women in her situation behave and react like that, but I couldn’t connect with her on a personal level.

In the first thirty percent of the book, the reader doesn’t get much of a glimpse of the magical aspect of the book. The only example was how light bulbs blow up when Lizzie gets upset.

When the magic really comes into the story, it does so with a bang. It was a little jarring to me, because it was such a contrast to the previous material. In my opinion, there could have been more magical elements mixed into the story earlier so it didn’t come so abruptly. Once I got settled into the fantasy side of it, I became enchanted by The Enchanted One.

The writer did a great job with the setting descriptions. It was easy to visualize.

I didn’t care for a lot of the characters–even Lizzie for most of the story–but that isn’t the fault of the writer; it was just their personalities. However, I did really like the cook at the woman’s shelter.

At one point, I cringed a little because there was a ‘down-the-rabbit-hole’ comparison. This is so overused in fantasy. If I hear one more character compare herself to Alice, I think I’ll scream.

Despite that, I enjoyed reading The Enchanted One. I would definitely read the next book in the series. I recommend it to readers who like stories that transform the main character. There are a couple of action scenes, but this is mostly a story of personal development and friendship. A reader of this book should also be someone who doesn’t mind not learning who the bad guy is.

"To the Goddess of the Triple Moon, the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone, I ask for your guidance and protection for what I am about to do."
Never in a million years did Lizzie imagine that she would be saying these words. Much less that she would know the incantation she was about to perform. The reason, well, that blows the imagination.
Lizzie was a young women who owned a flower shop, which she loved. She loved the serenity of immersing herself in the art of floral design. The only thing that she wished was different, is her relationship with her husband, Ian. He is a tyrant and his mother, her mother-in-law is even worse.
On this day Lizzie is leaving work early. She is upset and angry. The bank called and informed her that a large charges of electronic paraphanelia has been taken from her account, now she is overdrawn. Ian is in their apartment playing video games on his new equipment. When he is confronted, he starts yelling at her and calling her names. All of a sudden all the lightbulbs in the kitchen explode and glass flies everywhere. He storms out of the apartment, yelling for her to pack her stuff and get out.
What seems like hours later, Lizzie gets a phone call from the hospital informing her that Ian has been in a traffic accident and she needs to go there as soon as possible. Ian dies. After this, strange events start happening. She is attacked by ravens at the cemetery, she meets Gideon who claims to be her protector. She meets Gideon's mother. All of these different events culminate into one of the best, most exciting book of this genre that I have read in a long time. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I wholeheartedly give this spectacular read 5 Stars!! Read this book, people! Highly entertaining, enjoyable, dramatic, suspenseful, everything to make a dynamic book!

~~"Prep to live, not live to prep"~~

This review is for the first two books of this series. And, yes, I read it out of order as I didn't realize there were two books written previously! I have also included some of the information from my review of book three.

Taking place after the great cyber attack, one will become acquainted with David and his girlfriend, Julie. He has been prepping for many years and feels that he would be able to sustain them for a number of years. Of course, one must plan on having needy neighbors, so what does one do with them? The ending of the first book covers some incredible information including calories per ounce of meat. What I found impressive is that this takes into account, the amount of calories that one living in these conditions would need to survive. Incredible information. It also covers rocket stoves and ponchos to my amazement.

Progressing into book two, we are "stranded" on the Island with the Preppers. And, we are privy to their conversations concerning leadership and the construction of the rafts. I had to laugh at the discussion of the latrine duty. It seems as though this was the turning point to get everyone on the same page to enforce rules and choose the leadership. Just imagine about 75 people in the wilderness without a proper place for a latrine!

Book three (which I reviewed on October 5) contains some outstanding dialect. The banter between Crick, Bertha, Clem and the rest is priceless. It picks up right where it left off in book two.

As I stated in my review of book three, if you are looking for an error free book, this is not the one for you. If you are looking for some excellent tips on survival including hunting, fishing, snares and traps , this is the one for you. The knowledge imparted makes up for the errors at least a hundred fold!

All in all, a most interesting mix of characters which is enhanced by their dialect and life style. Am still thinking there must be another one in the works so the reader will be able to see how life on the Plantation goes for the rescued ones.

"You may not want to believe this, 'Leutnant, but we are on the brink of losing this war.  The Reich's enemies are closing in and we are running out of men, weapons, and equipment.  There is only one thing that can save us; money, and lots of it.  With money, we can buy more munitions, develop more powerful weapons, and entice new allies to enter the war on our side. Unfortunately, the Reich is almost out of money."

The second in command leaned back against the hatch and made no reply.

"However, as you may know," the commander continued, "for many years, explorers and archaeologists funded by the Reich have been scouring the world for alternative sources of wealth.  Recently, one has been located.  It is believed to be on a Spanish treasure ship which sank in the sixteen hundreds."

Gunther's spirits, momentarily buoyed by the prospect of there being a sensible purpose to their voyage, sank again.  The commander was talking about a treasure hunt; a wild goose chase based on half-baked information gathered by some archaeological zealot.

Becker chuckled at the look on his face.  "You are sceptical, 'Leutnant, as was I at first.  Do not worry, our information has been verified at the highest level; by Bormann himself.  That is good enough for me."

Gunther's heart sank even further.  He did not share Becker's faith in Nazi high command.  But he was careful not to let his misgivings show.  Perhaps he should be thankful that Becker believed so fervently in his mission.  At least he would not be quick to make any more ill-judged attacks on superior forces.

"It is an honour for us to be entrusted with such an important mission, sir.  You can count on my full co-operation, of course."

Becker nodded.  "I thought you would be impressed, 'Leutnant.  If we are successful, there will be an Iron Cross for every man on this u-boat.  I am sure of it."

Clever and well researched

Patrick, a treasure-hunter who is searching for the wreck of a particular Spanish galleon, is in luck. He and his girlfriend, Molly, stumble across this ship almost by accident. While searching this location, however, they find more than they bargained for.
The story shifts to 1945. A German U-boat departs on a secret mission to recover a treasure. The commander knows the location of the Spanish galleon, and his crew finds it easily, but things soon go bad.
“The Treasure Hunters” is a well-paced adventure story that examines this treasure through four moments in history. Mr Dean is able to handle these transitions easily, and appears to have done his research regarding German submarines and Spanish galleons.
The description of scenes is composed artfully—just enough to place the reader at the right time and place. There is no padding, so the story manages to maintain an interesting pace.
This would appeal to a wide range of readers. I certainly enjoyed it.
I received this book in return for an honest and non-reciprocal review.

Thrilling

A real thriller that keeps you turning the pages.
It’s a blend of adventure/travel/historical and Si-fi, and to start with, I thought it wasn’t going to work – but it did! Each of the four stories stands up on its own and builds its own momentum, and throughout the book they lead effortlessly from one to the other. Quite an achievement.

The other plus of the book is that it is very well written. The prose and the dialogue is crisp and fast, and the author has a talent to create main characters that come alive and are sympathetic. I found myself immediately identifying with the various protagonists and wanting to find out what happens to them.
Added to this, the author has cleverly made the sci-fi element appear almost credible – as if the event might well have been possible – which always makes for makes for a better read, I find.

As someone not usually interested in sci-fi, I found myself pleasantly beguiled.

Beginnings of a new mystery/adventure series

This episode marks the beginning of a series that I expect to be filled with science fiction infused treasure hunts. The main characters, Patrick and Molly, are a solid and intelligent couple that the reader can expect to succeed against all challenges--those usual for treasure hunters, and imaginative ones issuing from the science fiction genre.

I enjoyed movement of the narrative between time periods which, given after the mystery is described, showed what dangers the protagonists face. Once they resolved components of the mystery on their own, although they cannot understand it as well as the reader who has precise knowledge of events in previous time periods, the twist at the end rests in how they respond--which was fun to read, and opens the door to more adventures.

In all, I expect this to be a fun mystery/adventure series with smart characters, intriguing set-ups, and unexpected solutions.

Hamilton), Jane Yellowrock (author Faith Hunter), Kitty the werewolf (author Carrie Vaughn), the Spider (author Jennifer Estep), and Merit (author Chloe Neill), as well as others.If you've been looking for a story that explodes with action, sizzles with suspense, teases with intrigue, and has just enough romance to warm the heart and get the motor running, then this story will not disappoint.

I loved this book

I loved this book! The author treats his female lead with such respect. She is smart and caring, even though she is a vampire. I appreciate the humor woven through, and done in a way that doesn't really make this a comedy, but delights us. Sabine becomes a friend as the novel goes on, and we really care for her and what will happen next. This an entertaining novel, valuable for those moments that you need some distraction that is better than TV. It includes those emotions of love and support and romance and responsibility for each other and children, all woven in with the fear of what will the bad guys do.

Even if vampires aren't your thing - you'll love it!

Although I'm not normally a fan of this genre, Mark has an exciting, descriptive style of writing that reins you in and keeps you hooked. As a writer myself, I'm particularly impressed with his use of dialogue. It feels natural, yet always propels the story forward to the next often-perilous turn in the road. A thoroughly enjoyable read...

I really liked this book. I consider 4 stars to be a really good book. 5 stars is reserved for those I always go back and read again and again. If this becomes one I'll change my rating.

The heroine is not whinny or bitchy and doesn't think of just getting in the main guys pants the whole time.
She is smart, funny, and fun to see what she will do next.

I am really looking forward to the next book. I want to see how the story and characters develop.

Interesting imagination, not terrible writing.

Interesting imagination, not terrible writing. The storyline is intriguing, although there are some confusing gaps. I feel that with some good editing this could become a quite decent book. I get the impression (partially by the number of typos and grammatical errors) that this is perhaps self published by a fairly young and/or inexperienced writer. I would definitely read subsequent titles by Ms. Danger to watch how she develops her talent and skills. For this genre I would only give five stars to those of Tolkien level, and one star rating would be reserved for a title I couldn't make myself finish. If this is her first book, Ms Danger is off to a good start.

Quick and fulfilling escapism ...

This anthology, edited by Kevin J. Anderson and Quincy J. Allen, was my first foray into written "steampunk" fiction, and thankfully, the experience was fulfilling. The stories were of such high quality that they stimulated me both emotionally and mentally, in large part due to it being such a diverse multi-cross-genre collection of stories. It is touted in the book's introduction as "... sixteen stories of boiler-splitting steampunk with a blend of sci-fi, paranormal, western, and horror." I agree with this description and thoroughly enjoyed the read.
The flow and pacing of the stories is fairly quick, and I was reminded by reading this of how fun and easy an anthology can make slipping into and out of "fantasyland" ~ without the long term commitment that a full novel demands. That said, these stories are rich and deep enough to provide true "escapism."
A couple of the longer stories took me back into the Wild West. I still picture in my mind Jake Lasater's "Colts" coming to life in San Francisco's Chinatown in Allen's western, steampunk, fantasy "Lasater's Lucky Left." "American Vampire" by Keith Good is a vampire tale that begins in 1913 "Bandito" times and traverses macabrely back in time and then forward again before concluding in a surrealistic modern age scenario. That one kind of creeps me out in a new and fun way. Good job, I say!
These stories kept me turning the pages with the inventiveness of the gadgetry. Not just the gadgetry itself is fascinating but how the gadgetry makes its place in the stories kept my ever-hungry and easily-bored mind engaged and satiated.
Emotionally, this anthology took me on a roller coaster ride. From the opening story "Iron Angel" by Cayleigh Hickey, which pulled my heart strings, continuing with Aaron Ritchey's horror story, "The Dirges Of Percival Lewand," which made my heart race with the "horror and fear" it triggered deep inside, to the final story in the anthology, Jonathan D. Beer's "Budapest Will Burn," which left me with a sense of longing or lingering, an almost melancholy feeling, "Best Of Penny Dread Tales" provided me with entertainment, escapism, and with lots of fodder for my brain to feed on for awhile.

Entertaining selection of steampunk tales!

I picked this book up at DragonCon - I was looking for something with which to retreat into a corner and pass the time while my daughter took a nap. I dove on in and found quite an entertaining selection of steampunk adventure tales.

My three favorite stories were Aaron Michael Ritchie's twisted take on the Ripper tale, Peter J. Wack's clockwork Muay Thai tale, and - my absolute favorite - Laura Givens' side splitting dinosaur adventure (plus a bonus helping of Tesla...)

There were a few stories that left me cold. David Landrum's China-doll-sexual-warrior stereotype had me skipping ahead, for one.

However, if you are looking for an anthology that is fun to read and spans the gamut of the Boxer Rebellion to the distant apocalyptic future, I definitely recommend this anthology!

The "Gateway Drug" of Steampunk!

I picked this up from the WordFire Press booth at DragonCon last year. One of the editors, Quincy Allen, recommended it to me as a good place to start since I was interested in getting into steampunk. This was my first experience with the genre, and I have to agree with him! The stories were varied enough to keep me excited to see what would come next, and while I liked some stories more than others, I didn't find one I didn't enjoy. Personally, my favorite was Mr. Allen's story following Jake and Cole. I enjoyed it so much I sought out his series following those same characters and I've been hooked ever since. Do yourself a favor and pick up this collection, then do yourself another one and go buy some books from these authors!

Helen Scott Taylor certainly knows just how to pull on the heart strings and take the reader away from all the cares in the world. Italian Christmas Baby has all the right components anyone could ever ask for: Christmas, babies and holidays in exotic foreign countries. Who needs anything more?

Our heroine, Emily, shows us that there is nothing wrong with trying to be a single mom, but there is everything right about being with the one you love, even though that someone broke your heart. You could say that this story is about second chances, or perhaps just a little intervention from Mother Nature. Either way, Savino is one lucky guy who is about to have his eyes opened for the first time.

What a joy it is to have my faith renewed in reading again! I have read hundreds of books this last year and found most of them poorly written, dull, and frankly, not worth writing about. Helen Scott Taylor's stories are sincere, heartwarming and capture the essence of what love and romance is all about. I'll read and review her stories any day of the week!

For those readers who only have just a few hours in the evening or a lazy Sunday afternoon, pick up a copy of Italian Christmas Baby and immerse yourself in a read that will inspire you to believe that love really conquers all and babies make it that much sweeter!

Loved the book.

Emily Trevathan is a translator who meets Savino Marin while on assignment. Their mutual attraction makes her feel that her deep love is reciprocated. However Savino thinks that Emily is a distraction that he can ill afford if he wishes his company to succeed. So at the end of their three week assignment he walks out of her life letting her know that he must focus on work not her. Emily’s heart breaks but is forced to move on. Only she can’t because she has discovered that she is pregnant. Should she tell the father who is obviously not interested in love and family? Or should she forge her own way as a single mom? The least she can do is let him know that he is to be a father…and then the story begins. Is Savi interested in Em or just the baby? She needs to know if she can trust him with her heart again.

Awesome contemporary romance that incorporates lots of family support and love.

Another awesome book by this author. Emily is an independent woman, a translator. She meets Savino, a wealthy hard working technological business man. Savi has a big loving Italian family but is of the belief that he has no time for a relationship if be wants his business to be successful. Due to his beliefs after being with Emily and sharing three loving weeks with her he ends their association. Emily is heartbroken but moves forward. Just a few weeks before Christmas she attends a meeting where Savi is the presenter. Emily shocks Savi by appearance alone as she is due to have his baby in a few weeks but felt he had a right to know. Savi tries to make sudden decisions because of the pregnancy. Emily still loves him but is afraid because he claims he loved her but was committed to his business. I won't go further into this romance but it's a very enjoyable. The author writes so you feel as if you're in the middle of Emily's village and can see it as she does. The same thing occurs when Savi is looking out the window of his home which faces the Mediterranean Sea. I look forward to reading more books by the author.
